CARBON-BLANC (33) 08.03.2013

On 8 March 2013 at about 19:00, a woman driving in Carbon-Blanc (33) saw an intensely bright round form moving north and disappearing in a fraction of a second. No other account was collected. GEIPAN finds moderate strangeness and weak evidential support from a single brief account. Possible explanations include a balloon moving with the wind or a car headlight reflected on a power line; see the investigation report. However, low-quality information and inconsistencies concerning weather and the 2 sketches prevent identification. GEIPAN attributes the difficulty to interpretation under surprise during a brief sighting rather than to visual perception itself. It classifies the case C: insufficient data, although plausible hypotheses exist.
