On 15 March 2013 at 19:38, a witness and his son in Chessy (77) saw a golden round object zigzagging silently through the sky. GEIPAN finds the slowly moving golden ball suggestive of a sky lantern. A southerly wind recorded by Météociel matches the initial path. The witness was north of Disneyland, a possible release location; see the map. Urban turbulence could explain the zigzags. GEIPAN attributes the apparent rapid upward departure to the burner progressively going out, with fading interpreted as recession. It classifies the case B: probable sky lantern.
