Case description
On 11 May 2013 around 22:30, a witness in Rive-de-Gier saw 5 yellow-orange points appear northeast of the town and move slowly. They gradually dimmed and disappeared.
GEIPAN considers the Saturday-evening sighting fully compatible with Thai sky lanterns released at a party and drifting with the very light, variable wind, as shown in the Saint-Étienne Météociel record. The case is classified B: probable sky lanterns.
