BETHUNE (62) 02.06.2013

On 2 June 2013 at 00:09 in Béthune (62), 4 people in an apartment living room saw 6 luminous shapes pass silently for at least 1 minute. The opening describes north-to-south-southeast travel; the analysis instead says north to south-southwest. GEIPAN finds such lights crossing in a few minutes on a weekend night strongly suggestive of sky lanterns, probably released nearby after a private party. It considers the motion compatible with northerly wind recorded at Lille by Meteociel. GEIPAN collected only 1 account and classifies the case B: probable sky lanterns. The witness was informed but did not accept the hypothesis.
