CRAMPAGNA (09) 09.06.2013

On 9 June 2013 at about 00:45, a witness saw an intense orange-red light move north to south and disappear behind a hill. No particular sound was heard during 4–5 minutes of observation. GEIPAN considers the slowly moving light on a weekend night probably a sky lantern released after a celebration at Saint-Jean-de-Verges. Saint-Girons weather records show light, highly variable wind, but local wind at Crampagna cannot be established precisely, especially in the hilly terrain. The case is classified B: probable sky lantern.
