JAUNAY-CLAN (86) 27.06.2013

On 27 June 2013, a date confirmed by email, at 23:45, a witness in Jaunay-Clan saw 3 lights move rapidly and silently along a straight path in a clear sky for 3–4 seconds. Two were green and rectangular; the third was white. GEIPAN explains that white or green points crossing the horizon in a few seconds on a straight path can result from a meteoroid fragmenting as it enters the atmosphere. To test this, GEIPAN searched for other accounts or video recordings in BOAM, the amateur meteor observers’ database, but found no close match. With no corroborating information to support the hypothesis, the case is classified C.
