At 20:45 on Friday 5 July 2013, a witness on his terrace in Notre-Dame-d'Oé (37) saw a black object move silently across the sky. He initially thought it was a black bird with white wings, but noticed an unusual effect. After about 15 seconds a house roof hid it. Only 1 account was collected. He described a black body and apparently white wings, then interpreted the white as light sweeping from top to bottom. That feature alone made him reject a bird and regard the object as strange. GEIPAN explains that low sunset light can produce bright reflections even from black wings. The reported motion matched a bird, leaving these reflections as the sole unusual feature, which GEIPAN considered unsurprising. The source refers to example images of a cormorant and a raven.
