CERGY (95) 25.07.2013

On 25 July 2013 at 03:41 in Cergy (95), a worker on a break outside saw 3 lights moving at constant speed in a clear sky, apparently outlining a dark triangle. A building obstructed the view. He moved twice back and forth between 2 viewpoints, but the lights disappeared. The observation lasted about 2 minutes. Several explanations are possible for 3 lights. GEIPAN considers the main strangeness the low probability of alignment between the witness, the places where the lights went out and the lunar disc. A field investigation found the 3 lights moving together with the wind compatible with sky lanterns. The releasers could not be found. The case is classified B: probable sky lanterns.
