Case description
On 5 August 2013 at 23:14, a couple in Notre-Dame-des-Landes watched a very bright point cross the sky from west to east early in the night. GEIPAN considers the description characteristic of a large satellite. Calsky records show the ISS passing from 23:11 to 23:16, precisely covering the sighting time. The witness said the light sometimes seemed to deviate from its course. GEIPAN considers this probably a visual-perception illusion and refers to its information on perceived movement of a luminous point in the sky. The case is classified A: a sighting of the ISS.
