Case description
On 11 August 2013 around midnight, a witness in Châteauneuf-du-Faou (29) saw several orange objects distinct from stars in a clear sky. They moved slowly east-southeast, and he took several photographs.
GEIPAN finds the round orange lights in continuous motion typical of sky lanterns, common on summer nights in towns. A light westerly wind recorded at Quimper was broadly consistent with windborne travel east-southeast. GEIPAN classifies the case B: probable sky lanterns.
