VALLOIRE (73) 12.08.2013

On 12 August 2013, between about 23:15 and 23:33, a witness in Valloire saw a bright light on a mountainside, flickering slowly and irregularly. Its position near a place very difficult to reach surprised the witness. It faded and disappeared. GEIPAN’s investigation found that the area was used by people accessing chairlifts at the location named “Valmenier” in the source. The light’s colour and appearance were typical of a torch. GEIPAN therefore concluded that it was very probably a powerful torch used by 1 or more people near the chairlift facilities. The case is classified B: very probable observation of a powerful torch.
