Case description
The account mentions stationary lights seen every evening without further detail, and a brief light phenomenon on 13 August 2013. GEIPAN assessed only the latter because the recurring lights, very probably stars, were insufficiently described.
A bright light crossing the sky at high speed for 2 seconds strongly suggests a fireball, defined in the source as atmospheric entry of an asteroid fragment, a meteoroid, or satellite debris.
A BOAM meteor-network camera at May-sur-Orne, about 65 km away, recorded numerous fireballs that night during the Perseid meteor shower. Three approximately match the observation within a 5-minute interval around the reported 02:35 local time.
GEIPAN classifies the assessed sighting A: a fireball from atmospheric entry of a meteoroid or satellite debris.
