On 29 August 2013 at 19:45, a driver noticed 2 lights near the setting Sun and stopped to photograph them. GEIPAN considers the precise account and 5 usable photographs very good evidential support (see the investigation report). Their appearance and colour, matching elevation with the low Sun, and clouds suitable for sundog formation identify a parhelion. GEIPAN considers the event only slightly unusual because it is readily explained and demonstrable. The case is classified A: certain observation of a parhelion, or sundog phenomenon.
