SAINT-LEGER-AUX-BOIS (76) 31.08.2013

On 31 August 2013 at about 23:30, a witness at his doorway in Saint-Léger-aux-Bois (76) saw a very bright white point among the stars. It brightened, then dimmed while moving on a straight ascending path before disappearing. Only 1 account was collected. GEIPAN rates strangeness low and evidence moderate, based on a fairly precise single account. It identifies a rare but understood orbital phenomenon: sunlight reflected by Iridium 95, producing a flash or flare.
