RAZES (87), Limousin, FR
Open this case in the interactive AtlasCase description
On 23 September 2013 at about 20:30, a motorist near Razès (87) had 3 successive observations over a drive of about 10 km. Leaving the A20, she saw a large triangular shape described as having 3 lights, red, yellow and blue, “at each end.” The source summary specifies non-flashing coloured lights. Farther on she saw a similar shape at greater distance. Finally, rounding a bend, she saw a luminous potato-shaped mass flying low and slowly, with small triangles around it. No other account was collected.
GEIPAN notes that her stress visibly increased as she told the story and considers that the second and third sightings may have been influenced by the first, which strongly impressed her.
All 3 observations admit plausible explanations, but none could be proved; see the investigation report. GEIPAN estimates strangeness at 0.5 and considers the account's evidential substance weak. She was the sole reporting witness, although she passed other vehicles whose occupants did not appear surprised by the UAP, which puzzled her. She was very emotional during the interview, potentially affecting accuracy. Inconsistencies, including the Moon's presence, further weakened the evidential substance, also rated 0.5.
GEIPAN classifies the case C: insufficient verifiable information and corroboration.
