SCHILTIGHEIM (67) 01.10.2013

On 1 October 2013 between 23:15 and 23:25, a witness at home in Schiltigheim (67) saw 2 bluish-white lights moving together irregularly and apparently passing through clouds. They disappeared after 10 minutes. Two hours later, similar lights appeared and suddenly vanished. He took several photographs. GEIPAN considers the description strongly suggestive of a nightclub-style light display. The photographs show bright patches only on clouds, which it regards as evidence of projection from the ground. The analysis calls the evening Wednesday, although 1 October 2013 was Tuesday, and notes the weekday as unusual for this type of display. Because the phenomenon had low unusualness, GEIPAN did not conduct a detailed search for its source. It classifies the case as B: probable observation of a skyrose light display.
