On 27 November 2013 at 18:00, 2 people intermittently watched luminous phenomena in a clear sky over 1 hour 30 minutes. There were 3 phases: - A northeastern light, described as 2 large yellow lights with a red one between them, was initially stationary and then disappeared behind a building. This strongly suggests an aircraft or helicopter seen head-on with its lights on. - The witness's son saw a point of light passing above the house and “rocking.” Two aircraft passed high overhead at 18:02 and 18:05 (see Flightradar records and the military-radar track on the Géoportail map, whose times are in UT). A helicopter was also active between 18:12 and 18:30 above the high-voltage line between Quinssaines and Nouhant, 7 km southwest of the sighting location. The account is not precise enough to identify which aircraft was seen. - At the end, a very bright point remained nearly stationary to the southwest for more than 1 hour. This was unquestionably Venus, particularly bright at magnitude −4.7. Differing focus settings and camera movement explain its varied appearance in the photographs. GEIPAN classifies the case A: Venus in the final phase, with probable aircraft and/or helicopters in the earlier phases.
