RABATELIERE (LA) (85) 01.01.2014

On 1 January 2014 at 00:15 in La Rabatelière (85), several people saw a puzzling light move silently and took a photograph. GEIPAN considers a red-orange light moving slowly on a festive night suggestive of a sky lantern. Meteociel reports light southerly wind, not incompatible with the southwest-to-northeast movement the witness described. The supplied photograph, greatly enlarged and probably affected by camera motion, fits this hypothesis. The case is classified B: probable sky lantern.
