CONDAT-SUR-GANAVEIX (19) 02.03.2014

On 2 March 2014 between 18:30 and 19:00, a witness closing his shutters saw a white light moving slowly above houses in the estate. He took photographs before trees hid it. The sighting lasted about 30 minutes. No other account was collected. GEIPAN considers that he probably saw an unexpected outdoor light and fetched his camera. However, the unusual feature underlying the report, and very probably prompting it, was the overlapping rectangular lights he later noticed in the photographs. The images show that he photographed through a glass door and that the rectangles are reflections of the Minolta camera’s rectangular flash. The original light is barely described; the account concerns the rectangular forms produced by a photographic artifact. GEIPAN therefore limits its conclusion to the described unusual feature and classifies the case A: photographic reflection.
