POUSSAN (34) 14.03.2014

On 14 March 2014 at 19:30, a driver and his daughter saw a light move very rapidly through a cloudy sky through the windscreen, then disappear below the horizon. A large bright point with a short trail crossing part of the sky in about 1 second suggests a fireball: a small rocky meteoroid entering the atmosphere at very high speed. Many other witnesses reported it on forums (see ‘Fireball of 14 March 2014’), and a video was recorded in Spanish Catalonia (see ‘Fireball in Spain’). GEIPAN classifies the case A: identified fireball. See also its fireball explanation.
