Between 22:00 and 23:30 on 8 April 2014, a witness in Le Pontet (84) looked through a partly open picture window and saw fluorescent-green lights move silently in a straight line. They appeared connected by lines across nearly 10 m, then disappeared behind nearby buildings. Only 1 account was collected. He felt they were floating on the wind. Avignon recorded north-to-south wind, compatible with the reported north-northwest to south-southeast path. GEIPAN considered green sky lanterns probable, noting that lanterns vary in shape and colour and referring to a lantern website. They might have been tied together, accounting for the connecting lines. Such celebrations usually occur on weekends, but a weekday birthday was also possible.
