FONTAINES (71) 10.04.2014

On 10 April 2014 around 18:00 in Fontaines (71), a witness saw a bright stationary object to the west for about 30 seconds before it vanished instantly. Only 1 account was collected. GEIPAN notes that a bright western object late in the afternoon suggests sunlight reflected by an aircraft or balloon. An aircraft would need to be distant, more than 50 km away, and travelling along a direction close to the witness's line of sight. Its sudden disappearance probably resulted from changed orientation to the Sun: the reflection would have vanished while the object remained. GEIPAN classifies this low-strangeness case B: probable setting-sun reflection from a distant high-altitude aircraft, probably EZY434P according to Gasperflights.
