Case description

From June 2014 to December 2015, a person in Biars-sur-Cère (46) regularly watched the sky with binoculars and a telescope, reporting coloured spheres visible only on starry nights and moving slightly. He described in particular a long observation on 6 June 2014. No other account was collected. Repeated, slow-moving multicoloured lights watched for 30 minutes through binoculars or a telescope suggest stars scintillating strongly at low elevation. The relevant sky chart indicates Capella, Vega or Deneb as possibilities. Incorrect telescope adjustment may also have contributed. GEIPAN classifies the case B: probable low-elevation stars with strong scintillation.
