Case description
A witness saw a group of approximately 20 orange balls for a few minutes on a Friday evening at 23:53. GEIPAN considered this suggestive of sky lanterns released after a party. The balls appeared almost stationary, moving very slightly to the witness's left as they faded. GEIPAN interpreted this as lanterns being carried away from the witness by the wind, slightly westward. Meteociel reported a light west or northwest wind of 13–19 km/h at Roissy. No other accounts were collected. GEIPAN classified the case B: probable sky lanterns.
