A witness reported stationary orange lights at 22:45, with rapid disappearance described in the source summary. GEIPAN considered sky lanterns viewed along the wind direction a possible explanation. Weather records showed a northerly wind of 15–30 km/h (see the weather reference).
Another flying object joined the group while also moving with the wind, possibly a lantern released later. Its description fitted a lantern poorly, however. The witness saw it through a windscreen while driving, for only 5 seconds.
Given the poor viewing conditions and no other accounts despite a densely populated setting, GEIPAN considered the apparent strangeness unestablished and evidential support very weak. It classified the case C for lack of information and corroboration.
