BRUGUIERES (31) 19.07.2014

In this Bruguières case dated 19 July 2014, a witness sitting on his terrace saw 3 orange circles moving slowly and silently through the night sky. A photograph published in the press the next day for a sighting at Gratentour looked identical to what he had seen. GEIPAN considers orange circles crossing the sky in a few minutes along the same path on a weekend night strongly suggestive of sky lanterns, probably released nearby after a private party. They came from the southeast, the direction of Gratentour, consistent with the southeasterly wind recorded at Toulouse-Blagnac; Montauban recorded southerly wind. GEIPAN classifies the case as B: probable sky lanterns.
