SAINT-CYPRIEN (66) 26.07.2014

On 26 July 2014 at 23:10, a couple in their garden in Saint-Cyprien (66) saw 3 white points of light forming a triangle and moving silently southwest. Three minutes later they saw the same arrangement again under similar conditions but farther away, still heading southwest. Only 1 account was collected. GEIPAN considers sky lanterns very probable. Shape, color, configuration and path fit a release, particularly since southwestward motion matched the regional wind that evening; see the weather data. Summer weekend dates are typical for celebratory releases. A similar nearby sighting at the same time also supported lanterns; the source refers to ovni66. GEIPAN classifies the case B: probable sky lanterns.
