AVENIERES (LES) (38) 03.08.2014

On 3 August 2014 at about 22:30, a witness in Les Avenières saw a white light move silently at roughly an aircraft's speed. The narrative gives the awkward direction 'from SW–NE to NE'; the summary describes southwest-to-northeast travel. One account was collected. GEIPAN considers a very bright light crossing eastward in a few minutes less than 2 hours after sunset strongly suggestive of the ISS. Calsky shows the station passing over the witness's area from southwest to northeast between 22:36 and 22:45, slightly later than the approximate reported time. Since the witness reported no separate ISS in addition to the light, GEIPAN classifies the case as A: the International Space Station.
