BEDARRIDES (84) 14.08.2014

On 14 August 2014 at about 09:20, a witness looking at the Moon noticed 4 grouped white oval objects in a clear sky. They seemed stationary and disappeared one by one. No particular sound was heard during the 1–2-minute observation. No other account was collected. The objects were westward and barely moving. Gendarmerie checks found no matching aircraft flights. GEIPAN considered balloons: a light northwesterly wind was strengthening markedly as the mistral began and could have pushed them towards the witness, making them appear almost still. A weekday balloon release at that hour seems unusual, although it was the summer celebration season. Without precise supporting information or other accounts, GEIPAN classifies the case C.
