TOURNEFEUILLE (31) 17.08.2014

On 17 August 2014 at about 21:10, a witness looking through an open window saw a large fireball pass rapidly along a straight, horizontal path, with a short, vivid and very bright yellow-white trail. It then disappeared. The observation lasted only a few seconds. GEIPAN, based at CNES in Toulouse about 12 km from the witness, had a camera permanently ready to record this kind of phenomenon. It recorded the same event at 21:11. In the video, the phenomenon is visible at the upper left of the circle, corresponding to the southeast. GEIPAN classified the case A as a definite fireball sighting, also recorded by its camera.
