PORGE (LE) (33) 31.08.2014

In Le Porge on 31 August 2014, a witness closing shutters saw 12–15 luminous objects seemingly flying silently in formation. They crossed the sky north to south in a few minutes. GEIPAN considers the group, duration and weekend-night timing strongly suggestive of Thai sky lanterns, probably released nearby after a private party. Their movement was compatible with the northwesterly to northerly wind recorded in Bordeaux; the source refers to the weather record. The case is classified B: probable sky lanterns.
