Case description
On 17 September 2014 at about 17:00, a witness in Mougins saw a round red object that seemed to rotate and reminded him of a saucer. GEIPAN considers its straight movement with the wind suggestive of a drifting balloon, probably made of latex or Mylar. The easterly wind recorded at Nice matched its westward movement. GEIPAN classifies the case as B: a probable child's balloon.
