YERRES (91) 19.09.2014

On 19 September 2014 at Yerres, a witness saw an extraordinarily bright object shaped like a conical drum, moving slowly in a zigzag before disappearing behind trees on the horizon. GEIPAN considers a white luminous form crossing the sky in a few minutes on a weekend night strongly suggestive of a sky lantern, probably released nearby at the end of a private party. The very slight movement was observed in the northwest, consistent with the nearly absent wind, or very light southerly wind, recorded at Orly. GEIPAN classifies the case B: a probable sky lantern.
