VIEUSSAN (34) 05.10.2014

On 5 October 2014 at about 22:30, 3 people saw a fiery-red light above the hamlet of Boissezon near Vieussan (34). Initially stationary, it rose and traveled toward Roquebrun, then was lost to view southeastward. Two witnesses described it in a gendarmerie report. No further report reached the gendarmerie or town hall. GEIPAN's investigation found that movement with the wind, color, brightness, shape and duration all supported a sky lantern; see the attached investigation report. It classifies the case B: probable observation of a sky lantern.
