[AERO LOC] BAR-SUR-LOUP (LE) (06) 26.10.2014

On 26 October 2014, a Cessna business-aircraft pilot reported passing a dark rectangular shape very rapidly, very close to his windscreen, 3 minutes after takeoff from Nice at 15:21 UTC. It crossed north to south at flight level 115 above Le Bar-sur-Loup (06). His passenger on the right also saw it but did not submit an account. The investigation report notes that the aircraft was above a protected area containing many bird species, including large black diurnal birds capable of reaching that altitude. GEIPAN classifies the case B: probable observation of a large bird hunting or migrating, such as an eagle, falcon, harrier, kite or vulture.
