NIZEROLLES (03) 26.12.2014

On 26 and 29 December 2014, 2 witnesses living in a hamlet in the commune of Nizerolles (03) contacted the gendarmerie about different points of light in the night sky; see the investigation report. Gendarmes on site confirmed tests of the required nighttime warning lights on wind turbines about 12 km away, partly visible along the viewing direction. Their red color matched 2 of the reported UAPs. Jupiter was also in the same direction, with movement and color matching another UAP. The gendarmes noted that witness 1 had additionally mistaken public lighting in a nearby hamlet and Christmas-light garlands for unexplained phenomena. The investigation identified ocular micromovement, termed micro-nystagmus in the source, in one witness. GEIPAN concludes that the UAPs were very certainly several natural or manufactured objects and lights: Jupiter, red turbine lights, public lighting and Christmas decorations, with most impressions further affected by micro-nystagmus. The case is classified as A: definite observations of wind-turbine nighttime lighting, Jupiter and public lighting.
