SAINT-BRANDAN (22) 04.01.2015

On 4 January 2015 at 19:20, a witness and his wife watched 3 stationary orange-yellow lights from their car for 5 minutes. The lights went out one after another. GEIPAN considers this pattern on a weekend night strongly suggestive of sky lanterns, probably released nearby for beginning-of-year celebrations. Their apparent lack of motion was compatible with the very light southerly wind of 2–4 km/h recorded at Saint-Brieuc. GEIPAN classifies the case as B: probable sky lanterns. At the time of writing, it had received no other accounts connected with the sighting.
