ALBI (81) 09.05.2015

On Saturday 9 May 2015 at about 22:30, a witness watched an orange sphere move slowly for 10 seconds, dimming as it receded. No other account was collected. GEIPAN considers orange balls crossing the sky over a few minutes on a weekend night suggestive of sky lanterns, probably released nearby after a private celebration, possibly from the recreation area (see map). The reported west-to-southwest movement is described as compatible with the light westerly wind at Albi (see map and Météociel). The case is classified B: probable sky lantern.
