[D42] de GENERAC (30) vers SAINT-GILLES (30) 15.05.2015

On Friday 15 May 2015 at about 22:00, a driver and his female passenger traveling on the D42 from Générac (30) toward Saint-Gilles (30) saw numerous white glows pass through the night sky, each with a faint haze behind it. They watched over 7 minutes and 8 km of country roads. Only 1 account was collected. GEIPAN considers the witness's fireball interpretation inappropriate. The sighting occurred about 1 hour after sunset at the last light of dusk, only 10 km from the Camargue lagoons and their thousands of large birds. GEIPAN proposes the final evening movements of birds leaving the lagoons for inland roosts. The witnesses considered birds but rejected them because they thought of nocturnal species, which GEIPAN considers probably inappropriate here, especially given the numerous passages. Nevertheless, no concrete evidence confirmed the bird hypothesis, and the description is very brief. GEIPAN classifies the case as C for lack of corroboration.
