SAUJON (17) 23.05.2015

On Saturday 23 May 2015 between 23:00 and 23:15 in Saujon (17), 2 people watched a very bright orange object pass rapidly and silently for about 5 minutes. A few minutes later, a second object with the same characteristics appeared. Only 1 account was collected. GEIPAN finds orange balls crossing over a few minutes on a weekend night strongly suggestive of sky lanterns, probably released nearby after a private celebration. West-to-east movement matches the westerly wind recorded at Cognac; see Meteociel. The case is classified B: probable sky lanterns.
