PLEUMEUR-BODOU (22) 06.06.2015

On Saturday 6 June 2015 at 10:10, a witness near a leisure park in Pleumeur-Bodou (22) saw something circling in the sky. The UAP made small circles like a bird circling prey or a drone, then abruptly changed course and headed northwest at a very steady speed without sound. Vegetation eventually hid it. Only 1 account was collected. GEIPAN considers the account to show little perceived unusualness because the witness offered possible explanations, first a northern gannet and then a drone. Either was possible, but a recreational drone better fitted all phases. The sighting was near the Parc du Radôme in daylight around 10:00 on a Saturday. Many potential observers were likely nearby, especially inside the park, and the witness mentioned other people present. Yet no other account was received. GEIPAN therefore considers a fairly ordinary sight, probably a recreational drone, the most likely explanation. The witness's video shows nothing relevant, but its audio records a discussion: one voice rejects a drone because no operator was visible, while another disputes that argument, which GEIPAN considers appropriate. The case is classified as B: probable observation of a drone.
