SAINT-LEGER-DES-VIGNES (58) 30.06.2015

On 30 June 2015 between 23:30 and midnight, a witness in Saint-Léger-des-Vignes (58) watched 2 unusual yellow-orange lights, one above the other, and took several photographs. Their very slow movement suggested an astronomical origin. GEIPAN's sky-chart check showed Venus and Jupiter exceptionally close together just above the west/northwest horizon, an apparent proximity called a conjunction. Attached charts show their appearance at 23:33 and at 23:55, when they were about to set. GEIPAN classifies the case A, fully explained as the Venus–Jupiter conjunction.
