BIZANOS (64) 04.07.2015

On 4 July 2015 around 23:00, a witness in Bizanos was intrigued by the movements of a round, luminous red-orange shape in the night sky. No sound was heard, and the object disappeared suddenly. Only 1 account was obtained. GEIPAN explains that an orange ball moving in the night sky for a few minutes and then suddenly disappearing could be a Thai sky lantern. Its change of course during the sighting was consistent with the variable wind direction recorded at nearby weather stations that day, as shown in the attached document. The witness also mentioned a village celebration that evening, increasing the likelihood of a lantern. The case is classified B: probable sky lantern.
