DOUE-LA-FONTAINE (49) 15.08.2015

On Saturday 15 August 2015 at 22:30, 2 people in Doué-la-Fontaine (49) saw 7 round red-orange lights moving silently through a clear sky, initially straight and then apparently upward. Only 1 well-documented account was collected. GEIPAN considers their several-minute passage on a weekend night characteristic of sky lanterns, probably released nearby after a private celebration. Travel north-northwest to south-southwest matched the northerly wind recorded at Angers by Météociel, and the photographs also fit lanterns. GEIPAN classifies the case B: probable sky lanterns.
