On 15 August 2015 at 22:36 in Nîmes (30), a resident watching stars from his garden with his wife and daughter saw a very bright light to the southeast for about 10 seconds before it suddenly went out. Using GEIPAN's website, he considered an Iridium flare. GEIPAN finds moderate strangeness but sufficient evidence for a standard satellite-reflection identification involving Metop A. Its timing, path and position perfectly match the witness's description; see the investigation report. The case is classified A: sunlight reflected by Metop A.
