Open this case in the interactive AtlasCase description
On 29 August 2015 between 21:45 and 23:00, a family in Saint-Georges-de-Didonne (17) watched successive orange or white lights move through the sky. Some gradually extinguished; others disappeared from view in various directions. No sound was heard. Only 1 account was collected.
GEIPAN favors sky lanterns, probably released nearby after a private celebration on this weekend night. Successive fading supports burners going out. However, the very brief written account does not allow comparison with wind data. GEIPAN classifies the case B: probable sky lanterns.
