ROQUEBRUNE-SUR-ARGENS (83) 04.09.2015

During the night of 4–5 September 2015, 2 witnesses in Roquebrune-sur-Argens (83) saw lights moving silently in the night sky. T1 observed at 23:40 on the 4th and T2 at 00:15. No other account was collected. GEIPAN considers milky circles moving in low clouds for several tens of minutes on a weekend night strongly suggestive of a nightclub or other public light display, common in this tourist area. The source describes the sightings as 45 minutes apart, although the stated times differ by 35 minutes. They probably came from the same source, possibly aimed in different directions; the projectors can be visible more than 10 km away. One witness's series of photographs fits this explanation. GEIPAN did not investigate the precise source and classifies the case as B: probable observation of a light display.
