HAREVILLE (88) 26.09.2015

On 26 September 2015 at 15:00, a witness watched 5 white points approach slowly and silently through a blue sky for about 5 minutes. The formation continued into a cloud and disappeared. Only 1 account was collected. GEIPAN considers grouped white objects travelling with the wind strongly suggestive of rubber party balloons, probably released for a celebration. They seemed to come from Remoncourt, northeast of the witness; Météociel records at Nancy show a northeasterly wind. The Saturday-afternoon timing could fit a wedding, and one did take place in Remoncourt that day. GEIPAN did not pursue checks to confirm a release. The case is classified B: probable party balloons.
