Case description
At about 2:30 a.m. on June 13, 1967, Domtar worker Carmen Cuneo stepped outside at a mine near Caledonia, Ontario. Near a pond and the lower mine dump, he reported two objects hovering approximately twelve feet above the ground: a cigar-like craft about thirty-six feet long, with four small windows and a projecting boom, and a smaller disc about fifteen feet across.
Three short figures were said to be walking beneath the larger craft. The contemporary account compared their headgear to miners' hats, with a row of amber lights. After watching for around ten minutes, Cuneo fetched fellow worker Merv Hannigan. The figures were no longer visible when they returned, although both men reportedly watched the objects until they departed southwest around 3:05 a.m.
Later that morning Cuneo reported a ground gouge and an oily substance on burdock leaves, apparently containing tiny metallic particles. His suggestion that steps made the gouge was an interpretation, not an observed landing mechanism. Saucers, Space & Science published an investigative visit that autumn. The plate correctly places Cuneo with the figures and both craft in the first observation; Hannigan is not added to the occupant scene he did not report seeing.
