On 13 December 2015 around 23:30, a witness in Bonnes made a prolonged observation of a stationary point of light in the night sky, flashing red, yellow, green and blue. It appeared very high and seemed too bright to be a satellite. He filmed it, and his wife also observed it. He eventually chose to stop watching. Only 1 account was obtained.
GEIPAN’s analysis using the specialised CNES/GEIPAN software IPACO identified Sirius under exceptional conditions favouring strong scintillation; the source refers to the investigation summary. The case is classified A: an astronomical object mistaken for an unidentified phenomenon.
